I have multiple gmail accounts and they're each for specific thing. What I like about gmail is that I rarely get spam on there, unlike my old Yahoo and Hotmail email accounts I used to use. I can't believe the amount of spam on there.
I never used Yahoo. But did use Hotmail. Which had a lot of spam.
I stopped using Gmail a couple of years back. I use my own email service now. No more ads and nobody else reading my emails. Gmail is the best email service provider though, but I love more my privacy.
Another benefits of using my own domains/emails, is that I can add global filters to create unique forwarding emails alias. This is very very very useful to have an unique email for each website on the fly without further configurations. (if you have a domain+hosting, I would recommend to do that too within your cPanel)

I use Gmail, I actually have three different Gmail accounts. I also use Yahoo and Protonmail as well. I never had issues with Gmail, but I get a lot of spam using Yahoo.
I created my first ever Gmail account back when Gmail first launched and have been using Gmail ever since. I have a personal email, a business email and an email for just about everything else on Gmail.
